Historically, OEM control computers were very difficult to replace without paying a visit to the manufacturer and paying a hefty sum of money. This was usually due to proprietary add-in cards that required specialized BIOS or a specialized case, or necessary software tricks and tweaks that the OEM was hesitant to share. With more recent equipment this is no longer required. If you have a DR, or CR, OEM PC that has died, you can now replace the it with a very powerful pre-configured unit for a fraction of the cost of an OEM unit.
